Hemnes 8 Drawer Dresser Changing Table

Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are getting pumped for the fourth of July! I'm curious to see how Eliza does with all of the fireworks considering she will most likely be sleeping…or at least we hope!

I wanted to come on here and quickly share a fun little knockoff I did in E's nursery. When I was originally putting the nursery together I fell in love with this PB Baby Changing Table.

What I didn't fall in love with was the almost $1,400 price tag! So I decided to do what I do best and that was to create this dresser for much cheaper! I started by purchasing the Ikea Hemnes 8 Drawer dresser. which is $249. It comes in a variety of colors including white and white stain. I purchased the white stain as it is more true bright white. The white color is more creamy and off-white. Since her crib was a true white I wanted the pieces to match as close as possible.

Having the 4 small drawers at the top was actually one of my favorite parts since it allows me to use those for specific items. The next thing I did was order new drawer pulls. I ordered Ring Pulls from Lee Valley. I ordered them in size 43mm x 34mm in Burnished Bronzed. They were perfect!

The last thing I ordered were the O'verlays. If you've never heard of these then I'm about to blow your mind! They are decorative panels that are specifically made for Ikea furniture. I purchased the Annie Kit for the Hemnes dresser. They come white and you can paint them whatever color you want. Since I was sticking with white I didn't need to paint them at all. I purchased them in the 1/4″ thickness.

Once the pulls were in I then just eyed where the panels would go and taped them on with painters tape before gluing them.

Using liquid nails I added little dabs all around and put it back on. I was really nervous about how to make sure the panels would be even but it was so easy to just stick them on. It turned out exactly how I wanted! And now we have mini Vanna White with the finished product ha! The changing table top is from Bed Bath and Beyond.
